Ghana Thanks China For Building Residential Solar Street Lights

      On August 5, John Abdullah Ginapo, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ghana thanked the Chinese government for assistance in building residential solar street lights projects. The residential solar street lights project cost US $ 1.5 million. The installation of residential solar street lights for night lighting in some streets in Accra, Ghana's capital not only improves the visibility of night roads, but also improves the safety of bus stops and night shift vehicles.

     Vice Minister Ginapo stated that the residential solar street lights project not only provided 275 residential solar street lights for Ghana, but also more importantly demonstrated the use of solar street light integrated in Ghana's urban roads in the future.Vice Minister Ginapo thanked Huawei as the construction party for its contribution to the stable and smooth progress of the solar street light integrated project. As of August 1, 2014, 260 solar street light integrated have been put into use, and the remaining 15 will be installed in the near future.

 

     Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Ms. Sun Baohong also praised the solar street light integrated project's use of clean and renewable energy. No underground cables need to be buried during the construction process, and solar street light integrated  are automatically turned on at night, reflecting the advanced nature in all aspects.

      Ambassador Sun Baohong said that the solar street light 30 watt project is a concrete measure to implement the fourth ministerial meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation on helping African countries develop and use clean energy. At present, another Chinese solar energy company is seeking to invest in a large solar power station in northern Ghana, and some Chinese companies plan to invest in clean coal power plants in Ghana.
